"Baker and the Great Basin
area, especially Wheeler Peak, have been our
favorites for years; this peaceful area with the
inspiring peaks is always a source of wonderful
uplift." ~ Local motel

The
Great Basin Business & Tourism Council would like to
welcome you to the Great Basin National Park and
surrounding area. We're glad you're coming to
visit Nevada's largest national park and we look
forward to helping you explore this vast area of
high desert and timbered mountains.
Our small town of Baker,
Nevada, hosts the new Great Basin Visitor Center. The entrance to Great Basin National Park and
Lehman Caves are located five miles west of
Baker on Highway 488. Both the Great Basin Visitor Center and
the Lehman Caves are open to the public
year-round (except for Thanksgiving and
Christmas Days.

We hope our web site will nudge you
off the beaten path and away from the crowds
where you can enjoy high desert heat during the
day, cool breezes scented with sage in the
evening and a spectacular blanket of stars at
night. As Biff Henderson of the David Letterman
Show said about Baker - "It's quiet,
peaceful, beautiful and the people are
friendly." |
